Limassol, CY: Women of Soil, a brand new theatrical production by Versus Theater which is based on the real-life testimonials of seropositive women that were grossly mistreated by the Greek authorities in 2012, had a very successful sold-out premiere at Theatro Ena in Limassol yesterday, October 23, 2020.
The tragic story came to life under the powerful direction of Ermina Kyriazi, a fascinating script by Koraes Damates, and an all-women cast made up of (in order of appearance) Eleana Papadopoulou, Andrea Kasinou, Yiolanda Christodoulou, Lyda Karayianni, and Anastasia Zanti.
The play was produced by Marinos Anogyriatis, the sets and costumes were designed by Michalis Papadopoulos, while the light design was made by Vasilis Petinaris. The theater technician was Lampros Kokkinos.
Aris had the great privilege of composing and producing original music for the show. When asked about his inspiration, he replied, "... I felt that this very powerful tale required a musical language that would be both emotional and unsettling at the same time. For this reason I chose to use a hybrid musical pallet: merging acoustic and electronic music." He then added, "... I am glad to say that we got some very positive feedback from the audience. I believe that's because all elements of the production's design came together very coherently, not to mention the stellar performance of our fabulous cast. I am extremely happy with the result and would like to the thank the production team, especially my dearest Ermina, for the lovely collaboration."
The play, performed in Greek, will run through November 8, 2020 at Theatro Ena in Limassol. All performances begin at 8:00 pm and reservations are highly recommended, since the theater operates at a reduced capacity due to the recent government executive orders concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
