I recently had the great privilege and honor to arrange and orchestrate for one of the most important contemporary Greek songwriters, and notoriously strict X-Factor (Greece) judge, George Theofanous.
Mr. Theofanous, has written a truly spectacular two-hour-long sacred work that follows the life of the Virgin Mary. The show, which fuses Classical, Byzantine, and Greek Folk music elements, had its Cyprus premiere last night, October 4th 2019, at the Limassol Garden Theater and featured more than 200 people on stage (including soloists, chorus, actors, dancers, and orchestra).
I had the joy of arranging and orchestrating one of the numbers in the show: the"Hymn to the Virgin Mary". The arrangement, which draws from Byzantine and Greek Folk music elements, was performed by upcoming singer Nikolas Champiaouris and the Cyprus Folk Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Theofanous himself.
