LIMASSOL, CY: Alkistis Protopsalti, undoubtedly one of the greatest singers of the Greek music world, amazed Cypriot audiences with her brand new Cypriot concert tour with Aris Antoniades and the TrakArt Pops Orchestra, which consisted entirely of cover songs selected by the great singer herself. What made the event even more intriguing was the fact that these popular songs were freshly arranged and orchestrated in a quasi-symphonic/theatrical style by Aris Antoniades and his team, providing the audience with a brand new musical experience.
These unique concerts, which took place in Limassol at the Pattihion Municipal Theater (April 10 and 11, 2022) and in Nicosia at the Municipal Theater (April 13, 2022), also featured the exceptionally gifted singer Andreas Aroditis who mesmerized the audience with his beautiful voice.
The experiment proved to be a great success, with the audience filling the theaters, embracing the program, and showing Ms. Protopsalti and the musicians their love with long standing ovations every night.
Ms. Protopsalti in a recent interview praised Aris for his, "unbelievable imagination" and his "exceptionally passionate and fresh approach to writing". She also expressed a great appreciation for the TrakArt Pops for their energy, craftsmanship, and pure love for the art of music.
Alkistis Protopsalti, with a career that spans 47 years, is a giant of the Greek music industry who has released 28 personal albums, all of them golden or platinum, and has collaborated with some of the most important artists and orchestras in Greece and around the world (including the Symphony Orchestra of Prague, the Boston Pops, and others). She was also prominently featured at the closing ceremony of the Athens 2004 Olympics, and has sung/voice-acted in the official Greek versions two Disney animated films: The Hunchback of Notre Dame where we listen to her voice as Esmaralda , and the film Tangled where she had the very difficult demanding role of Gothel. She continues to tour Greece and the world, providing unforgettable concert experiences.
When asked to reflect on the concerts, Aris stated that, "...it was such a great honor to collaborate with one of my favorite artists of all time. I would like to sincerely thank Ms. Protopsalti for placing her trust in me and for honoring our orchestra with this lovely collaboration. I would also like to thank the TrakArt Cultural Development Foundation and all of our musicians for their hard work, our orchestra contractor Konstantinos Krasidis Makaritis, as well as our unbelievable production team, and especially our producers Mr. Marios Papadopoulos and Ms. Melina Schini for making this dream come true. Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank my two assistant orchestrators, Alexandros Darna and John Ghikas who wrote some additional orchestrations for our show, despite their hectic schedules."
Aris and the TrakArt Pops have an exciting new season planned. More information coming soon!
